Update on API outage
On 12 November 2024, an incident took place, which impacted a large part of our API landscape. We are aware of the impact these outages can have on our partners. Especially as you were preparing for a successful season. Also, this specific incident lasted longer than you may expect from us. To show our commitment on making sure this does not happen again, we would like to share our actions taken last week.
Increasing resilience for high load
This specific incident was triggered by an unexpected peak in the load on the Retailer API. We have scaled up our capacity to make sure these spikes can be handled in the future. Similar peaks have been handled successfully since.
Identifying the source of these peaks
We are identifying the source of the peaks in traffic, so we can come up with solutions that may prevent these kinds of peaks.
Improve nighttime monitoring and alerting
As the incident was only solved in the morning, we have reviewed our monitoring and alerting to better cover these nighttime incidents.
