‘AllowableRetailPrice’ pilot discontinued

The Retailer API `allowableRetailPrice` pilot was intended to allow us to share price ranges for products so that our partners could determine if their prices are too high to show to customers. One of our acceptance criteria for a successful pilot was that it would not have a ‘price steering’ effect. After the first analysis we saw that we need further investigation into the effects of sharing price ranges to exclude the possibility of price steering. We will continue to work on this.

As a result, we have decided to stop the pilot in its current form, and we will no longer offer this feature with the release of the Retailer API V5. The primary goal of the pilot was to learn what happened when we exposed this information, and it certainly succeeded on that front.

We intend to define the next steps to develop this functionality which we expect to be able to provide much better information and enable our customers to make more informed pricing decisions in the future. As soon as we have more information, we will communicate it with you.
